As a rule, a blood test will always be performed unless you have had a blood test in the last six months and we have access to the results.
Your blood will be tested for kidney function, cholesterol levels, glucose levels and iron levels. The results of this test indicate how your vital organs – which affect or can affect your heart – are functioning. If requested by the cardiologist, we will also send your blood for a thyroid function test, but this is not routinely done.
The test itself takes about a minute.
