In this test, your blood pressure will be recorded every half an hour for 24 hours. Because your blood pressure is measured over a longer period, it produces a better indication of your blood pressure values.
A blood pressure cuff will be put around your arm and attached to a small recording device. You wear this device on a belt around your waist.
The blood pressure monitor must stay on for 24 hours. You will be asked to keep a diary of everything you do in those 24 hours. You may not swim or take a bath or shower during this test.
After 24 hours, you can remove the blood pressure monitor and loosen the cuff. You can then return the recording device, the leads and the diary to the centre.
Connecting the blood pressure monitor takes about 15 minutes. Your blood pressure will then be measured at set times for 24 hours.
